Sunday Times Best Place to Work: It’s a hat-trick!

We hinted at it back in March and now we can say it out loud - Verve has been named on the Sunday Times Best Places to Work list for the third consecutive year, making us the first finance firm to make the list 3 years running.

What makes these awards so special (and more than just a trophy on the shelf) is that there's no submission to polish or panel to pitch to.

This awards is decided entirely by independent research, driven by real anonymous feedback from our very own team.

Every voice gets an input, and I think that's what makes the result so worth celebrating!

In our Sunday Times WorkL survey:

  • 80% of employees agreed Verve actively promotes diversity and inclusion
  • 88% said they are treated with respect
  • 91% reported having a good relationship with their manager
  • 90% said they feel safe in their working environment
  • Only a 4-point gap in experience between majority and minority employee groups - rated Excellent, against an industry norm of -1%
  • Just 10% flight risk, compared to 41% in financial services

The independent employee feedback demonstrates the positive impact of our approach. But how do we do it?

Culture of inclusion

We talk a lot about culture at Verve, but what I'm most proud of this year is that we've backed it up with action.

At our annual Kick Off event last year, every team member had the chance to write down something they'd like us to stop doing, something they'd like us to start, and something they love that they want us to hold onto.

Fast forward to this year's Kick Off, and we had a board showing the things that had actually been implemented as a result.

We've also launched ‘Verve Voices’ this year, a group of team members from across the business who come together regularly to share what they're hearing. What's working, what could be better, what do people need more of? Verve Voices will feed directly into how decisions get made.

Alongside that, we've overhauled our office space to make it a collaborative space where we all feel the benefit, and want to spend time (including an on-site gym!).

This year we’ll also enjoy our fullest wellbeing calendar to date, with all kinds of social and creative events woven throughout the year, including getting outdoors, going out to eat and our brand new theatre club.

None of it is revolutionary, but it's consistent, and it's intentional.
