Our story

We’re proud of our history and take great pleasure in sharing our journey so far.

2009

Para-Sols was officially born in June 2009 by Founder (and now CEO), Cathi Harrison. She believed the industry would benefit from outsourced paraplanning – where advisers had access to much needed flexible support without the long-term commitment.

2010

Cathi was twice hailed for her bravery in sacrificing a secure job in the midst of a recession to go it alone and was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year at both the Women into the Network Awards (WIN) and Shell LiveWIRE – her first two of many trophies.

2011

As the reputation of Para-Sols began to grow and demand took off, Jo Campbell joined as the first full-time, permanent employee, to help take business to the next level. Today, Jo is Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for overseeing every part of operations.

2012

Now qualified as Chartered and a Certified Financial Planner, Cathi was awarded her first industry related award – Paraplanner of the Year at the PA Awards. The company moved into bigger offices so she and Jo no longer had to share a desk and phone!

2013

With an ever-increasing client list, we embraced our company value of ‘Innovation’ and designed and built Rise© a bespoke case management systems improving our efficiency and giving our clients full transparency on their projects.

2014

Cathi is appointed to the board of the Personal Finance Society (PFS) which marks the first ever Paraplanner representation to the board and Cathi’s first official role outside of the company. She later finishes her term in 2017.

2015

It was this year that Kim Binks, our Head of Finance & Corporate today, joined what was the growing Para-Sols brood in a newly created role, designed to drive new business and enhance relations with existing, new and future clients.

2016

Continuing to build up the trophy cabinet, Jo Campbell wins Paraplanner of the Year at the Money Marketing awards and additional hires take the team into double digits for the first time. Slightly bigger offices are once again needed.

2017

Natalie Bell, our Chief Engagement Officer today, joined the leadership team with a aspiration to take the business to the next stage of growth. First on the list was to overcome our own recruitment challenges and we launched The Grad Scheme.

2018

Now with 7 years’ experience of Para-Sols, and believing there was a more efficient, common-sense way to approach regulation, Cathi launched a new business – Apricity Compliance – to offer firms a positive compliance experience with a tech underpin.

2019

In 2019 we launched a third business – The Art of Finance. Designed specifically for those looking to get into, or further develop, their career in financial services through a range of practical skills and exam support, it was a training solution like no other in the industry.

2020

The year the world closed down, but Verve's world opened up! With the Covid-19 crisis hitting hard, we launched our #Project2030 initiative and began pivoting and rebuilding our services. We were later awarded a national 'Pivot' award.

2021

We kicked off 2021 having doubled in team size during the previous year! Ever determined to achieve our mission, we launched our 'We Are Change' initiative and our not for profit Foundation. We also held our first annual conference and awards - Evolution!

2022

A big year for Verve, one in which our family of businesses finally took the huge step and consolidated all four business into one. It made sense to streamline and make our services more accessible for advice firms.

2023

We call it, ‘the year of Dextera™’. We celebrated its successful launch in July 2023. Dextera, Latin for ‘your right hand’, was designed to be exactly that to advice firms. It was also the year Cathi was awarded Tees Businesswoman of the Year!

2024

We turned 15! With Dextera™ firmly established following its successful launch in 2023, in 2024 we focussed on enhancing our services and creating new propositions as we continued to meet the demands of the changing landscape in financial.

2025

And here we are! Marking our 16th year with a brand and website refresh - one that reflects our professionalism, scale of services and depth of expertise.  We'll be focussing on driving positive compliance this year so if that's your passion too, come join us.

2026

What's coming next? We're an ambitious and agile team so expect lots more award-winning services that build the capacity and technical expertise within a firm, lots more technology advancements and lots more verve to transform financial services.
