What happens on tour stays on tour: the power of being in the room

We just closed out our second round of GROW on Tour sessions and if you missed it, you missed out.

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been on the road around the UK delivering CPD to small groups of financial advisers, and the insights have been strictly in-person only!

To bring the knowledge directly to advisers with real conversation in real rooms, we teamed up with experts from Quilter and Marlborough to visit Cheltenham, London, Leeds and Glasgow.

Now, what happens on tour stays on tour, so the expert knowledge stays mostly under wraps. But we can lift the curtain a bit on what was learned along the way…

What is GROW on Tour and who is involved?

GROW on Tour is the live, interactive version of our popular GROW webinar, designed to bring topical issues to life in real rooms with real conversations. We want advisers to interrupt, ask questions, share stories and give examples. And our GROW crowd never disappoints!

For the autumn sessions, expert speakers included:

  • John Corbyn, Retirement Specialist at Quilter on navigating pension IHT changes;
  • Marlborough’s Business Development Manager, Craig McPherson on MPS vs multi-asset funds;

What is the benefit of in-person CPD?

If it works as a webinar, why bother with in-person sessions? We’re so glad you asked!

In the age of camera-off webinars and moving the mouse, being in the room makes all the difference.

But this isn’t classroom learning: each day comprises 3 lively sessions with meaningful conversation, networking over coffee and a shared lunch.

One Cheltenham delegate summed it up perfectly: “It definitely isn’t dull.”

Every GROW session creates a real-life space for advisers to connect with peers, learn together, think out loud with the experts in the room, and leave inspired to do better work for their clients.

Key takeaways from our autumn GROW on Tour

With open discussion and plenty of time for clarifying questions, we can count on GROW delegates to highlight the clearest themes of the day.

So we’ll leave you with the key takeaways, according to our GROW guests.

On IHT:

“The scale of IHT problems for many clients is worrying, and there’s a lot of change coming down the track. I need to make sure our systems are well established and working well.”

On MPS and MAFs:

“There’s a lot going on! But the discussion was of critical relevance to my day to day work.”

On Compliance:

“It’s interesting to identify compliance shortcomings, and immediately know how to address them.”
