Simplifying the advice firm tech stack in 4 steps

Most firms have a sprawling tech stack that’s grown organically, with bits bolted on over time. And now, it’s a complex web of platforms for CRM, compliance, paraplanning, admin, file checks and training.

They all do their job fine, but they don’t always talk to each other, so time is lost to admin, duplicate data and general frustration.

If that sounds familiar, don’t lose hope. Sorting out your tech stack doesn’t mean throwing everything out and starting again, but it does mean building a smarter system.

The time has come: here’s how to simplify in 4 steps.

Step one: Consolidate your tools

Instead of having separate systems for compliance, training, admin and client files, all with separate logins, aim for fewer platforms or ideally consolidation into one dashboard.

Why?

  • Having fewer integrations reduces risk of failure
  • Centralised data means less duplication
  • Your team is freed from switching between systems!

With an in-house platform like Dextera™, you can manage your entire business from one dashboard including team T&C, compliance, projects and operations.

The benefits are immediate: fewer logins, fewer integration headaches, and easier oversight of centralised data.

Step two: Overlay outsourced support

Even with the right tech in place, having access to support specialists helps your grow your firm without hiring a full-time employee in-house.

How?

  • Scale capacity up or down easily
  • Ensure quality and compliance without overloading your team
  • Keep fixed costs under control

By layering  outsourced paraplanning, compliance and administration support on top of your simplified stack, you can offload the tasks that bottleneck: those outside the scope of priority, or outside of the skillset.

That way the internal team is freed up for higher value, client-facing work.

Step three: Standardise workflows and processes

Simplifying the stack is about tech, but it’s also about process. Inconsistency creeps in when every adviser, paraplanner or admin has their own way of working.

Using templates standardises the workflow for processes starting from data capture and through to suitability report writing and onboarding. This empowers your team to stay consistent and compliant.

How?

  • Ensures every client experience meets the same standard
  • Reduces risk and rework rate
  • Makes onboarding new advisers far easier

Pre-approved templates accessed with a one-dashboard system make it easy to turn good intentions into good delivery.

Step four: Bring your data and oversight into one place

The final step is all about visibility.

With fewer tools to contend with, it’s much easier to pull clear performance insights at the touch of a button.

Working from a single platform gives you one version of the truth. With an in-house platform like Dextera™, it’s easy to see live data and track training, client outcomes, admin backlog all in one place for faster decision-making, no more bottlenecking and no surprises at audit time.

It’s worth the effort.

Simplifying and modernising your financial advice firm’s tech stack doesn’t happen overnight, but the benefits are worth it: simplicity, scalability, consistency and control.
