Like most of us, I didn't have a specifically finance background. I came straight here from university with a degree in Business Management -so don't really have any non-Verve professional background. I did spend 3 or so years in construction before/during university but sadly there hasn't been much crossover option with anything I picked up there!
I was originally a paraplanner but have drifted across to the DNA service, specifically the template service (I maintain our internal templates too). I also dabble in compliance and getting involved in events we provide to advisers.
Home life is now dominated by chasing toddlers around, but outside that I play a lot of football, casual and as part of a charity team which occasionally travels across the country to play against other charities. I also like to listen to a lot of podcasts with the main ones being interesting conversations and then narrative histories.
I've got such a thing with heights that when trying GoApe, I could only manage the first one and had to come down halfway on climbing the second. Every single one after was me waiting at the bottom and watching.
You get a lot of freedom to work out what pathway you want to take. You're not locked into a fixed job role and progression path so theres plenty of ways to do what you really enjoy. The perks of parties, office events and basically being a part-time doggy daycare also help.
People are happy to help and we dont consider anyone to have any dumb questions. There's also room to progress as much as you want.
