Finance is a bit of a different role compared to what I did at college (Biology, Psychology, Chemistry and Health & Social) and University (Adult Nursing and Crime & Investigation) - but a welcomed change. Even around my education, all my employment history comes from serving people their lunch (working in Greggs) and serving them on the tills/stacking selves (working in The Co-op).
I work as a Paraplanner. My main responsibilities are writing suitability reports and carrying out the supporting research and admin that go alongside. My second main responsibility is complaining about how cold the office is and drinking coffees!
I soak up reality TV like nothing else and, if not watching some bad TV I will usually be watching Brooklyn 99 (for the 15th time) or a crime documentary (of course accompanied with a glass of Rose). I also love going to see live music and try to see at least 2 bands a month. I thrive in summer, going for a drink in the sun is probably my most favoured hobby - even better if I can bring my mini dachshunds (Monty & Ernie).
I guess my fun fact is that I am a qualified fingerprint analyst.
Verve is the kind of place where you are happy to bump into your colleagues outside of work.
When I first started I thought I am never going to get my head around finance and being impatient I set myself unrealistic targets to be just as amazing as everyone else. Everyone here is unreal and will help you along every step of the way - every daft question you ask, they asked when they first started so keep asking away. You will get there and you will look back in even just 6 months time and think its crazy that before working here you could not name 5 pension providers or, of the top of your head, be able to know what Vanguard LifeStrategy fund maps with a certain risk profile. It's crazy, you'll be knackered by 9pm every night but it'll be class!
