Yesterday, a small group of us from Verve headed offsite for the day - not for a workshop or away day, but to spend time volunteering with 4Louis, our chosen charity for the year.
4Louis is an incredible charity that supports families going through the loss of a baby or child.
This cause is close to our hearts and was unanimously chosen as our charity of the year, after our colleague Kylie bravely shared her story of losing her daughter, Olivia after going into early labour at just 25 weeks. The care and support she and her partner received from 4Louis left a lasting impression on all of us and one that made us want to give back and support them in the amazing work that they do.
On the day, our team helped to assemble beautiful memory boxes - each one filled with carefully chosen items to help families create lasting memories with their babies and children. From clay imprint kits for tiny handprints to Forget Me Not seeds and matching teddies, these boxes are so much more than just keepsakes; they’re a lifeline in the darkest moments. They’re full of love and intention, and it felt really special to be part of that, even in a small way.
“It was a day I don’t think I’ll forget,” said Jas, who was part of the volunteer group. “It felt like we were doing something that actually mattered, not just in support of Kylie, but for every family out there going through something so unimaginable.”
“It’s been a deeply emotional day, but there was also a quiet sense of care and togetherness. It’s been a real privilege to spend time with the wonderful team at 4 Louis, creating such meaningful comfort for those suffering bereavement through the memory boxes” - Fran
We talk a lot about values at Verve - about having each other’s backs, building a culture that’s people-first, and doing things with intention. Volunteering with 4Louis brought all of that to life in a real and meaningful way.
It wasn’t just a team day out. It was a reminder of what it means to be part of something bigger - as colleagues, as humans, and as a team who genuinely cares.
