Join us on Tuesday 24th November for this 1.5-hour pensions masterclass.
Fran Robinson from Verve teams up with Justin Corliss (Technical Marketing Manager, Royal London) and Ben Allen (Pension Specialist, M&G) to cover death benefits, taxation and giving money a job.
Royal London – Death benefits and taxation
In this session, Royal London will cover the benefits that are available from pensions when someone dies and how they’re taxed. They'll also look at the income tax and inheritance tax that could be due post-April 2027.
Justin will use a case study to demonstrate the difference between using the normal expenditure out of income exemption to make a gift into a pension instead of an outright gift of cash. He'll finish the session off by discussing some practical planning points which can make a difference to your clients’ outcomes regarding IHT.
Learning Objectives:
M&G – Giving money a job
As clients approach retirement, their priorities, concerns, and expectations can evolve. This session explores the importance of truly understanding what matters most to clients and how effective communication can strengthen relationships, build confidence, and improve client outcomes.
Drawing on client research and industry insights, M&G will examine what retirees value most, the challenges they face, and how advisers can use this understanding to shape meaningful conversations. Ben will also review the structure of retirement advice, with a particular focus on income planning and creating sustainable strategies that align with individual goals.
The session will demonstrate how advisers can help clients ‘give money a job’, building retirement plans that not only provide financial security but also clearly demonstrate suitability and value. Finally, the session explores the renewed role of annuities and guaranteed income solutions in today's market, and how these options can be incorporated into modern retirement planning.
